Cabane a Sucre

2007.03.31

Today we went up north to help out at the Cabane a Sucre (1). The weather was beautiful perfect for collecting l'eau d'erable (maple water from the trees). a skidoo was used to take the water back to the cabin (3,4). Collecting is thirsty work (6). First you take the buckets off the tree and fill your big bucket (7) and then you fill the big barrel behind the skidoo. The skidoo is taken back and the water is put in an evaporator (8,9).

We also made tire sur le neige (10) and then later that night we went to a cabane a sucre next door for a traditional quebec dinner (11,12,13) including oreilles de christ (ears of christ - 14). After that the tables were cleared away for a night of dancing.
